Villanova University Junior Lezlie Hilario Named Recipient of Prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship

Villanova University junior Lezlie Hilario ‘25, a Political Science and Global Interdisciplinary Studies major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been awarded a 2024 Harry S. Truman Scholarship. Hilario is the seventh Villanovan since 1984 and the first since 2015 to receive a Truman Scholarship, considered one of the most prestigious and selective national awards for undergraduate leaders who intend to pursue careers in public service.

Six Villanova University Undergraduate Research Fellows were selected to participate in the third annual BIG EAST Undergraduate Research Symposium held at Madison Square Garden on March 16, 2024. Student researchers from all 11 conference institutions across disciplines showcased their work in the competition, which was held in conjunction with the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Conference Championship.

Jene Baquet '26 VSB Selected for The Washington Program by The Institute of Responsible Citizenship

Villanova University sophomore Jene Baquet ’26 VSB has been selected by The Institute of Responsible Citizenship to participate in its highly selective Washington Program, a two-summer opportunity that supports some of the best and brightest African American male college students in the country. Baquet will be one of twelve students as part of the cohort for the Class of 2025 and is the third Villanovan to be selected to participate in this competitive program.

Villanova Center for Research and Fellowships’ Kelsey Fenner Named Fulbright Recipient

Kelsey Fenner, an assistant director in Villanova University’s Center for Research and Fellowships, has been granted a Fulbright International Education Administrators (IEA) Award by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Overseen by the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, Fulbright IEA awards offer higher education administrators the opportunity to participate in intensive two-week seminars abroad to learn about global higher education systems.
