The Robert D. Lynch Award was instituted in 2003 in honor of Robert D. Lynch, Dean of the College of Engineering from 1975 to 2000.

The Lynch Award recognizes the scholastic achievements of an outstanding new graduate of the College of Engineering. The emphasis is on the scholastic attributes of the student's accomplishments at Villanova. The recipient must be a graduating Senior in the College of Engineering and have demonstrated an outstanding scholastic accomplishment in the Engineering Studies Program at the College.
