The Biochemistry Program offers a variety of research opportunities to students. Program faculty are engaged in research in basic science working toward the understanding of fundamental cellular processes, as well as in more applied biomedical fields. Students are encouraged early in their college careers to discuss potential research opportunities with program faculty.
Many students begin by working as paid laboratory assistants and continue to take on independent research projects. Students may obtain credit for their research, or may gain funding from faculty grants, Departmental funds, or the College Summer Research Program. Students may travel to scientific meetings with their faculty mentors to present their findings. Students are encouraged to consult individual faculty websites to obtain descriptions of faculty research interests.
