* In order to fulfill the requirements for an ACS certified degree, enough
laboratory work must be performed to bring the total amount of time in the
laboratory for the four years to 500 hours. The core chemistry courses yield 336
hours of laboratory work. Therefore students must take a semester of
Undergraduate Research plus the Biochemistry Laboratory or the Organic Analysis
Laboratory or they must take two semesters of Undergraduate Research.
