Letters of recommendation for nationally competitive scholarships are vital components
of a scholarship candidate’s application and can play a pivotal role in determining
the outcome of a competition. To assist you in writing the strongest and most helpful
recommendation letters, we have provided you with a guide for
writing letters of
recommendation and some examples from letters written by Villanova professors in
support of students who have successfully advanced in these competitions. For the
Rhodes in particular, Lynne Curry (Rhodes finalist, 1993) has offered
her advice
for both applicants and recommenders. In addition to these resources, you might
also want to read the advice given to letter writers at Harvard:
GSAS Guide for Teaching Fellows on Writting Letters of Recommendation.
