International Applicant
International applicants, in addition to the graduate admission requirements,
must give evidence
of proficiency in the English language. This proficiency is determined by the
TOEFL examination. The minimum acceptable scores are:
- Paper-based - 550
- Computer-based - 213
- Internet-based - 80
Students whose native language is not English are admitted to Graduate
Studies
with the understanding (based primarily on TOEFL scores) that they have acquired
sufficient
fluency in writing and speaking English to enable them to make normal progress
in their program of studies.
Students who on arriving fail to demonstrate a satisfactory level of proficiency
will
be required either (1) to study for a period of time at a nearby institution
offering intensive
courses in English or (2) to take supplemental courses in English as a second
language
in conjunction with a limited number of program courses. Official
Financial Certification in the amount of $21,600 (amount subject to change) is a
requirement for all International Students in need of an F1 Visa.
