The Director of Grant Development: (1) takes an active, and
often lead role in writing proposals for external funding on behalf of the
College, (2) functions as counsel and provides support to College Administrators
in interactions with appropriate administrators in other Colleges and The Office
of Research and Sponsored Projects, (3) works closely with faculty to facilitate
efforts to develop and prepare effective and competitive proposals, including
providing support in preparation of budgets and proposal ancillary
documentation, (4) organizes and runs grant writing workshops, especially for
new faculty, (5) takes an active role in preparing internal University reports
with regard to external funding, (6) works with faculty in the College to
identify potential funding sources, (7) plays a lead role in developing and
implementing a strategy to secure funding from government (state and federal),
foundation, and corporate entities in a manner that supports strategic needs and
goals of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
As appropriate, the Director may: (8) compile, collate, and synthesize
institutional data and/or national trend data needed to support grant-writing
efforts at the College or individual faculty level, (9) prepare and deliver oral
presentation to prospective funders and/or internal University audiences with
regard to funding history, status, and prospects, and (10) represent the College
in administering awards.
