The Professional Writing Workshop introduces sophomore
students in the PDP to elements of effective professional writing and to
business writing formats such as memos and letters. During the workshop,
students will apply the elements of good writing, develop a more effective
approach to the writing process, and identify writing and editing elements that
they need to improve.
Goals of the Workshop
- To introduce sophomore PDP students to elements of
effective professional writing;
- To illustrate similarities and differences between
academic and professional writing;
- To demonstrate the importance of writing as a
professional skill that must be developed;
- To develop a more effective approach to the writing
process; and
- To identify writing elements that students need to
improve.

Workshop Basics
- 2.5 hours – 130 minutes of instruction plus one 20
minute break
