Admission Process

All Candidates

Degree and program-specific admission requirements must be satisfied prior to beginning the application process.

Masters of Arts Candidates

Send the following to the Office of Graduate Studies:

  • Completed application and fees
  • Two official transcripts of all previous college work (both undergraduate and graduate)
  • GRE or GMAT scores

Send the following to Graduate Studies in Communication:

  • Three letters of recommendation (preferably two of which are from professors)
  • A writing sample (academic preferred, professional accepted)
  • A personal essay outlining academic and professional goals
Certificate Program Candidates

Send the following to the Office of Graduate Studies:

  • Completed application and fees
  • Two official transcripts of all previous college work (both undergraduate and graduate)

Send the following to Graduate Studies in Communication:

  • Two letters of recommendation (preferably from professors)
  • A writing sample (academic preferred, professional accepted)
  • A personal essay outlining academic and professional goals

Complete Application

In order to insure a timely review, a complete application must be submitted. A complete application includes:

  1. Application for admission online. For a paper application please contact gradinformation@villanova.edu.
  2. Program specific application requirements must be completed as defined by each graduate program.
  3. Non-refundable application fee of $50.* (payable to Villanova University)
  4. Official transcripts (two copies) of all previous college work (both undergraduate and graduate) sent directly to the Graduate Studies Office, by the Registrar of the Colleges or Universities involved.
  5. Letters of recommendation (3) forwarded directly to the Director of the program to which you are applying.
  6. GRE scores
  7. TOEFL scores for international students
  8. Financial Certification for international students needing an F1 Visa.

*fee waived for students with a Villanova degree

Deadlines

General Admission

Spring Semester: December 1st
Summer and Fall Semesters: May 1st

Funding Consideration (Graduate Assistantship or Tuition Scholarship)

Fall Admission Only: February 15th

You are required to contact the Graduate Secretary, Maria Conway, via email or phone (610.519.6434) to confirm that all of your application materials have been received by November 15 for the spring semester and April 15 for the summer and fall semesters. Applicants with materials missing will not be evaluated for admission.

If applying for a Graduate Assistantship or Tuition Scholarship, please contact the Graduate Secretary by February 15 to confirm that all of your materials have been received.
