5th Annual Conference for Undergraduate Research in Communication, Department of Communication, Rochester (NY) Institute of Technology.

Students from colleges and universities throughout the Northeast are invited to present their research, attend talks and poster sessions, and enjoy a day devoted to undergraduate scholarship and collegiality. Awards will be presented for the top three papers and the top poster session.

Also, all papers accepted for presentation will be published in a modestly priced book available online at lulu.com. (See the Papers of the 4th Annual Conference for Undergraduate Research in Communication.)

Registration for the conference, which includes a luncheon, morning and afternoon refreshments, and conference mementos, is only $20.

In the first four years of the conference, more than 150 students from the following 15 colleges and universities have participated:

    Albany University
    Alfred University
    Brooklyn College
    Hamilton College
    Ithaca College
    Marist College
    New York University
    Roberts Wesleyan College
    Rochester Institute of Technology
    St. John Fisher College
    SUNY College at Brockport
    SUNY Geneseo
    SUNY/IT Utica
    University at Buffalo
    Utica College.

Student papers and posters have covered a broad range of topics, for example: media bias, film, health communication, propaganda, freedom of expression, video games, political communication, ethics, the impact of cellular phones, student voting behaviors and issue comprehension, and the portrayal of women in the media.

The 2008 Conference for Undergraduate Research in Communication is an excellent opportunity for your students to share their research accomplishments, hone their presentation skills, become better acquainted with similar work by their peers from a variety of undergraduate institutions-and get published!
