Our faculty are regularly in the news, whether for awards, their service, or their academic and professional publications and presentations. For a complete look, check out each faculty member’s individual profile…but here are the fruits of the most recent academic year:

2006-07 Faculty Awards

  • William Cowen, faculty in Communication and director of the public relations and VCAN programs, was recently named winner of the Public Relations Society of America’s prestigious Frank X. Long Award which honors “exceptional creativity, writing skills and passion for public relations”.
  • William Cowen has been named to the prestigious Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Counselors Academy. Founded more than 40 years ago, the Academy is an elite group of principals and senior strategists of public relations firms in North America. As successful thought leaders in the industry, only about 600 professionals hold this designation of the thousands who are members of PRSA.
  • William Cowen received the Gold Award, MarCom Creative Awards from the prestigious Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals
  • William Cowen also received the coveted Pepperpot Award, from the Public Relations Society of America
  • Maurice Hall received a “Top Paper Award” at the National Communication Association Annual Convention, for his paper: “The Postcolonial Caribbean as a Liminal Space: Authoring Other Modes of Contestation and Affirmation”
