Villanova University offers programs leading to a Master of Arts degree (M.A.) in education with a concentration in Educational Leadership (K-12). Beyond the masters degree, students may also obtain Principal Certification (K-12). The program is intended primarily for practicing professionals for whom the availability of evening and summer coursework is usually deemed advantageous. Candidates who apply to attend full-time are encouraged to compete for a limited number of graduate assistantships.

The Master of Arts in Education is an interdisciplinary program that seeks to prepare graduates for effective leadership in schools, colleges, and other education organizations. Besides a core of requirements in education, students also take course work in public administration, ethics, and communication. In addition, the Department provides an ample number of electives whereby students can tailor their programs to suit their individual and professional development needs. The Villanova educational leadership program challenges students to strengthen their professional skills, increase their knowledge, pursue research interests, and chart a career course. Many of the program's graduates have continued their education through doctoral studies at a variety of schools, including Harvard University, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Saint Joseph's University, and Widener University.
