I. Elementary and Secondary Core Courses: Required

  • EDU 8603 - Educational Research
  • EDU 8641 - Statistics
  • EDU 8679 - Crrclm & Instr in Schls
  • EDU 8673 - Philosophy Education
    * Core courses must be completed prior to taking the Comprehensive Examinations

II. Elementary: 9 - 12 Credits required of the following

III. Elementary: 6 - 9 Credits to be elected from the following

IV. Secondary: 3 - 6 Credits required of the following

V. Secondary: 12 - 15 Credits from the following and/or up to 12 credits in candidates teaching area

Elementary and Secondary: Workshops 3 Required - 1 Credit each

The workshops, scheduled on a Friday evening and Saturday, deal with specialized and current topics of interest to teachers. Students n the program complete three workshops from a choice of many. Sample titles for GTE workshops include: "Successful Strategies for At-Risk Students," "Educating Middle School Students: What Really Works," "Effective Time Management for Educators," and "Teaching and Training as a Performance Art."
