A Call for Nominations
The Ethics Program invites
nominations for the 2008 Praxis Award in Professional Ethics. In order
to highlight and celebrate the work of professionals and academics in the field
of professional ethics, the Ethics Program of the College of Liberal Arts &
Sciences intends to recognize the work of such a person by awarding him or her
with the Praxis Award. The 2007 recipient, Dr. Joel Nobel, MD will be honored
on March 28, 2007 at 5PM in the Villanova Room. All are in invited to attend.

We call for the nominations of
individuals who meet any of the criteria outlined below.
The
deadline for nominations is April 20, 2007.
Criteria
Criteria for nominations in this
arena:

Evidence of excellence in
fulfilling and embodying the ethical ideals of a particular profession
-
Evidence of excellence in
explicitly connecting work in a profession to a broader understanding of the
common good
-
Evidence of excellence in
promoting and embodying ethical integrity in a professional field
-
Evidence of excellence with
respect to research in the field of professional ethics
-
Evidence of excellence with
respect to having a positive influence on the field of professional ethics
through writing, teaching, consulting, and/or professional leadership
To be considered, a nominee
need not fulfill all of the criteria listed. Recognizing excellence in one
or more of these areas, however, is the objective of the award.
