The department of history offers graduate students two unique opportunities to gain hands-on experience.

  • The one-credit Teaching Internship pairs interested students with faculty mentors to assist in the teaching of an undergraduate history course. Under close faculty guidance, teaching interns help plan the course, lead discussion sections and evaluate student performance.

  • The three-credit, one-semester Internship in Public History provides students with an opportunity to advance their historical knowledge, skills and understanding while gaining practical experience at one of Philadelphia’s many historical sites.
