The Coordinator of the Honors Program works
closely with the Assistant Director and Director to facilitate the office's
day-to-day activities. The Coordinator often serves as the first resource
person students encounter upon entering the Honors suite.
The Assistant Director of the Honors Program works closely with students,
faculty and administrators to ensure that the integrity of academic and
co-curricular
activities is maintained from their inception to their completion. As chairperson of the
Honors Council and the Honors Curriculum Committee, the Assistant Director serves as a
primary resource person for students and faculty who want to develop initiatives in
curricular and co-curricular programming.
Other Honors Resources
The Program also draws upon its network of
Honors
alumni who provide a wealth of experience and connections through individual contact with our
current students and through AlumNight career and graduate school forums.
As an active
member of the National Collegiate Honors Council, Villanova also provides the opportunity
for students to present their academic work at regional and national conferences.
The Director of the Honors Program serves as the academic advisor to Honors
students and maintains faculty members' written evaluations of all students who have taken
Honors courses. The overview provided by these evaluations, along with the knowledge that
comes from working closely with students in the advisement process, provides additional
details for developing strong recommendations for job or graduate school applications.
The Director of Honors also chairs the National Scholarships Committee
and maintains a close relationship with the
Office of Competitive Grants and Awards, which is responsible for
supporting Villanova students' applications for
national
fellowships. As a result, participants in the Program enjoy ready access to resource files
and workshops that aid students in applying for these scholarships as well as graduate
and professional schools.
