The Honors Program seeks to cultivate a mutually-supportive community of scholars committed to collaborative learning. By serving as accessible academic resources for other Honors students, Honors Program Peer Advisors help to embody and promote the Program’s inclusive, cooperative, and engaged intellectual culture.
Peer advisors primarily serve as academic mentors for first-year students, a relationship that begins in the summer prior to an incoming Honors student’s first semester and lasts as long as it is productive for advisor and advisee. Peer Advisors also speak during the Honors section of New Student Orientation; provide a workshop prior to first-year students’ fall and spring pre-registration appointments with Dr. Goff; maintain communication with advisees as need arises; and remain current in a Peer Advisor directory.
We hope both peer advisors and advisees alike find this Web site and the advising system as a whole a beneficial part of their experience with the Honors Program.
