History of the Program

Villanova created a trend-setting curriculum that has provided HR professionals with the expertise to open doors to rewarding careers around the world. Villanova was among the first universities to offer Human Resources education and remains at the forefront through continuing refinement of a curriculum that combines best practices with strategic vision.

For more than 20 years, HR professionals have chosen Villanova to help them build a foundation for the future and to provide the power of career choice. You, too, can enhance your HR competencies, and professional opportunities by completing courses in the Graduate Programs in Human Resources Development.

Fostering Development

Villanova's graduate programs in Human Resources Development foster the development of knowledge and skills that have a direct application in the rapidly changing field that encompasses law, regulation, human behavior, knowledge management and measurement. The courses create a practical environment to provide students numerous opportunities to perform many of the activities that practitioners encounter on a regular basis. Most of the courses are taught by leading consultants and practitioners from nearby organizations, assuring that students are acquainted with current technologies and practices. Some former students have gone on to earn Ph.D.'s and have returned to teach courses in the program. The students also bring a range of experience to the class discussions, since some students are recent graduates while others are senior executives.

Ideas for continuous improvement of our program come from area HR leaders and program graduates who serve on our advisory board. In this dynamic field, we attempt to integrate the latest innovations with established processes to create the best practices for professional excellence. We maintain close contact with national leaders from key professional organizations such as the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the Human Resource Planning Society (HRPS). We invite you to join the over 700 graduates in businesses that range from hospitality to pharmaceuticals, from process chemicals to transportation.
