John J. Weaver, Vice President of Human Resources at AMETEK, Inc., has
demonstrated the skills and accomplishments that set him apart from other human
resource leaders. John’s breadth of experience includes employee and labor
relations, human capital strategic planning, and global talent management. John
has been recognized in all facets of the profession.
AMETEK Inc. is a Paoli, Pennsylvania based diversified global manufacturing
company with $2B in sales and more than 70 manufacturing locations worldwide.
AMETEK Inc. has approximately 11,000 employees.
Since joining AMETEK in 1994, John has emerged as a leader in the development
of diversity programs. Not only has he upgraded AMETEK’s corporate-wide
leadership development program to include an organizational dynamics assessment
process that identifies future leaders, but John has also integrated Diversity
Action Planning into the annual leadership development process. He has led the
initiative to bring national diversity groups to the area and to create the
region’s own diversity academy. As part of a delegation of AMETEK executives who
make annual visits to Asia, John chairs the Leadership Development Review
process for the Asian business as well as the development of an Asian Human
Resources Organization to be based in Shanghai. In addition, he has also
established AMETEK’s Pan-European Human Resources Organization based in the UK.
His accomplishments have prompted the nomination of AMETEK for the 2004
Diversity Award sponsored by the Greater Valley Forge Human Resources
Association.
In November of 2007, John was nominated to the Advisory Board of the Great
Valley Campus of Penn State University. John currently serves as the Corporate
Representative of the Diversity Action Council of Penn State Great Valley. He is
also a member of the Senior Advisory Board of the Graduate School of Human
Resource Development at Villanova University and is a member of the Public
Advisory Board of the American Institute of Managing Diversity based in Atlanta.
Additionally, he was a member of the steering committee of local HR and
diversity leaders who championed the effort to bring the Diversity Leadership
Academy to the Penn State University Great Valley Campus. John is also a member
of several other key organizations, including the Society of Human Resource
Management, the Pennsylvania Employee Benefits Association, The Children’s
Hospital of Philadelphia Parent’s Advisory Council, and the Alumni Associations
of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Villanova University.
Prior to his role at AMETEK, John began his career in Boston, Massachusetts
by experiencing a variety of human resource roles at ITT Sheraton Corporation,
including Corporate Manager of Staffing, Personnel Manager, and Director of
Employee Development. John continued his career at Guest Quarters Suite
Hotels/Doubletree Hotels Corporation, holding the positions of Regional Director
and Vice President of Human Resources.
John earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Hotel, Restaurant & Travel
Administration, with a concentration of Human Resources, from the University of
Massachusetts in 1981. He continued his education by earning a Master of Science
Degree in Human Resource Development from Villanova University in May 2003. For
his accomplishments, John has been honored as a guest faculty member for Boston
University, Cornell University, Widener University, the University of
Massachusetts and Villanova University. John has also been recognized by the
University of Massachusetts with their Alumni to Watch Award in 1988.
