Topic: Health Care Crisis: The Role HR Can Play to Effectively Manage Benefits to Impact the Bottom Line
Speaker: Scott Grove, Director of HR at Kling Stubbins

Scott Grove, Director of HR at Kling StubbinsScott Grove is the Director of Human Resources for KlingStubbins, Inc.  He joined the firm and the industry 12 months ago and currently oversees all HR functions for the organization.  Scott brings over 15 years of HR experience in industries including medical device, consumer products, security services and residential construction.  Scott’s background in HR includes not only managing diverse teams, but engaging in team building and change management functions at organizations like Becton Dickinson, Cadbury Schweppes and AlliedBarton Security Services.  He has helped many teams through his expertise and guidance to improve communication, understanding and production within the framework of their regular work, and special projects.  

He also created diversity programs at multinational firms, worked with cross-functional teams on large scale ERP implementations to facilitate effective teamwork, and worked with the AARP to launch the AARP Featured Employer Program.  Scott’s career strength has been making HR a strategic partner by overseeing payroll, benefits, employee relations, recruiting, safety and all other aspects of Human Resources with an eye to adding value to the organization, and the bottom line.  Currently at KlingStubbins, in 12 months, Scott has saved the firm over $3 million through process optimization, automation and effective business partnering as well as effectively integrating Human Resources and the team into the company culture.

In his most recent book, Business Relationships That Last (Greenleaf, 2009), Ed illustrates his relationship-building principles through real-life stories, examples, and insights gathered from his success as a sales leader, and shows his readers how to establish and maintain successful business relationships.

Ed was a Teaching Fellow at Drexel University's College of Business, where he earned his MBA, has a B.S. in Accounting (cum laude) from Villanova University, and a CPA designation in the State of Pennsylvania. He is currently on the advisory board of DeVry University.

Ed resides in the Philadelphia area with his wife Laurie and their two children.

Joan Stokely, President of The Society of DiplomacyJoan Stokely, President of The Society of Diplomacy will present an interactive program to the Villanova University SHRM Chapter on Wednesday, October 22, 2008. The program will focus on topics that really make a difference in the competitive business arena:  networking skills, business protocol and etiquette skills that you need to know and dining etiquette dos and don’ts.

Networking and Business Etiquette are essential real world skills that are rarely taught in the classroom and typically can only be acquired through experience.  Avoid awkward and potentially embarrassing faux pas by attending the Social Skills Training by Joan Stokely, President of The Society of Diplomacy.  As an expert in social training, Joan will be focusing on Networking Skills and Business Etiquette, skills which are essential for starting a career and achieving success in your chosen field.  Give yourself an edge over the competition!

Topic: How do HR professionals prove the value of Work-Life Balance/EAP programs in hard economic times?
Speaker: Mary Lohman, Manager of the Human Capital Department, PJM Interconnection.

Ms. Lohman is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing daily human resources activities involving employee relations, organizational effectiveness, leadership education and employee training and development at PJM Interconnection. In addition, she is responsible for establishing and implementing long-range programs in the areas of retention, employee engagement, succession planning and change management and oversees the development, recommendation, and promotion of comprehensive Human Resources policies and programs.

She is a member of the American Society of Training and Development, the Society of Human Resources Management and the Human Resources Planning Society.  She is a certified trainer for Myers Briggs Type Indicator from the Center for Application of Psychological Type.
