What can I do with a major in Humanities?
Humanities offers many benefits. Liberal education, as John Henry Newman insisted, is a good in itself (since knowledge is a good in itself), and it also has secondary benefits. A cultivated, enlarged, disciplined mind will be useful in any undertaking—social, political, economic, and so forth. We are confident that Humanities is one of the most intellectually stimulating, enjoyable majors at Villanova.

It offers students the unique chance of learning not only traditional wisdom, but the chance to bring that wisdom to bear on a range of contemporary economic, religious, political, and social questions that are at the heart of human culture and life. Are there internships available?
Yes, there are. The Department of Humanities and Villanova University are affiliated with The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars in Washington DC. Eligible students can attend the Washington Center's semester or summer term program, complete a fulltime internship tailored to their individual interests, take an academic course of their choice, and receive academic credit for third work.

Excellent placements are available in the government, nonprofit organizations and corporations - as well as numerous international organizations. Many students are able to attend The Washington Center at a cost comparable to what they'd spend on campus for the same period.
