Letter from the Dean

In a few short weeks, the fall 2005 semester will come to close. But before we part ways for the semester recess, I’d like to take a moment to thank you for all of your hard work, commitment, and unceasing dedication to the education and development of our students. We have the unique opportunity to share four years in the lives of our students and to help shape their growth and maturation. This awesome responsibility is one that we can never take lightly as we look forward to the semester ahead.

Thank you for all you do to ensure that the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences realizes its mission: To provide an atmosphere of responsible learning to a varied group of students who will be called to intellectual, moral, and professional leadership. To fulfill these goals, the College seeks to promote intellectual curiosity and rigor within the University, to instill the fundamentals of critical insight, mature judgment, and independent thinking in its students, and to awaken in its students a sense of the importance of values and the moral responsibility of caring for others and working for the betterment of society.

As we look to the new semester, I’d like to encourage you make this e-newsletter truly “yours” by sending your news items, event announcements, and other pertinent information for publication to Kate Szumanski at kathryn.szumanski@villanova.edu for inclusion in our e-newsletter. By doing so, you will reach the broadest audience possible, both within the College and external to it.

And on a final note, I’d like to wish you and your loved ones and friends a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year. Enjoy the recess.

Sincerely,

Catherine Hill, Ed.D.
Acting Dean of the College
