Admission Requirements specific to Liberal Studies:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with a minimum grade point average of 3.00.
  • Two essays as a writing sample, each approximately two pages: one on your reasons for wanting to study
    for a master’s degree in Liberal Studies and one an educational autobiography.
  • Three letters of recommendation preferably from former teachers; however, for those out of school for many years, letters from supervisors or persons of authority are acceptable.
  • For Post-Master's Certificate there is no GRE requirement.

Complete Application

In order to insure a timely review, a complete application must be submitted. A complete application includes:

  1. Application for admission online or paper applicationPDF icon
  2. Program specific application requirements must be completed as defined by each graduate program.
  3. Non-refundable application fee of $50.* (payable to Villanova University)
  4. Official transcripts (two copies) of all previous college work (both undergraduate and graduate) sent directly to the Graduate Studies Office, by the Registrar of the Colleges or Universities involved.
  5. Letters of recommendation (3) forwarded directly to the Director of the program to which you are applying.
  6. GRE scores
  7. TOEFL scores for international students
  8. Financial Certification for international students needing an F1 Visa.

*fee waived for students with a Villanova degree

Deadlines

Applications must be received by the deadlines indicated below.  Where applicable, specific departmental deadlines are noted.

Summer May 1
For priority consideration, those applying for assistantship or scholarship for the academic year should submit credentials by March 15 to be considered for fall of that year.
