Master of Arts in Liberal Studies
The Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program is
designed to provide an alternative approach to continuing education within the
field of liberal studies. Its distinctive feature consists in its core course
offerings, which are interdisciplinary in nature and team-taught. This core
series attempts to provide at the graduate level an integrated,
interdisciplinary approach to the traditional problems and issues articulated by
the study of individuals in society characteristic of the liberal arts.
 The
program is designed for those adult students with a bachelor's degree who wish
to broaden their knowledge of the liberal arts in an integrated graduate level
course of studies, and who have an interest in the values of human cultures and
societies. The goal for liberal studies graduate education is for students to move to the next intellectual level: to
think independently, to see the distinctions between differences as well as
compare what is similar, to give themselves the time to consider seemingly
divergent views and how they can be synthesized in new ways.
