Applicants for admission to the graduate programs must hold a bachelor’s degree.
Specific program requirements are as follows:
M.A. Math: Applicants must have completed Undergraduate work in calculus through differential equations
and one semester of linear algebra. M.S. Applied Stats: Applicants must have completed undergraduate work in mathematics through multivariable calculus (usually calculus III) and linear algebra. Students with graduate degrees may have the GRE requirement waived with the approval of the Director of the Applied Statistics Graduate Program. Those with degrees in areas other than mathematics and statistics are encouraged to apply. Students with weaker mathematical backgrounds will be advised to take additional undergraduate courses; these courses are not counted toward the graduate degree. Students for whom English is not their native language will also be required to submit their score on the TOEFL examination.
Applicants for admission to the program in Applied Statistics with
Special Student Status must hold a bachelor’s degree.
Applications may be submitted online or downloaded and mailed to the Office of Graduate Studies (see
below). In addition, applicants must submit official transcripts from their undergraduate institutions. Once granted, this status permits them to take a maximum of 6 credits in the Applied Statistics Graduate Program. If these students want to apply for matriculated status at any time thereafter, they must submit all the materials required as stated in the description associated with Matriculated Status. If they are accepted, those credits taken previously in the program may be applied toward their degree.
