The M.A. program consists of 30 credit hours of course work and it can be completed by full-time students within one year, although regularly students obtain their degree in two years.
The program is geared to prepare students to pursue a doctor of philosophy degree in Spanish
or Latin American Literature, European Studies, Cultural Studies, and/or
Comparative Literature. Students may also enroll in the program to pursue a career in teaching in higher education or at the secondary level. It also offers high school teachers an excellent opportunity to enhance their knowledge and skills as a means of career advancement.
Degree Requirements for the M.A.
- Thirty semester credit hours satisfies the requirements for the Master of Arts program in Hispanic Studies.
- Upon successful completion of course work with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (3.5 for Teaching Assistants) each candidate must pass a written
comprehensive exam.
