Faculty members of the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures are very active in the profession. They are constantly publishing books and essays in their field of expertise and are invited to give lectures and presentations Internationally.

• Dr. Mercedes Julia will present a Conference: "Sucesivas transformaciones del yo juanramoniano" as part of a Symposium on Juan Ram?n Jim?nez organized by the Universidad Complutense. Madrid, January 30, 2008.
   
• Dr. Seth Whidden gave a conference titled "On Literary Collaboration in the Nineteenth Century." Tuesday, December 4, 2007 as part of the Birmingham Lecture Series.
   
• Drs. Carlos Trujillo and Maria Gladys Vallieres presented a Student Forum on "The word Hispanic", Thursday, September 27, 2007, as part of the Falvey Library Hispanic Cultural Heritage Month.
   
• Mercedes Julia presented her recent book: Las ruinas del pasado: Aproximaciones a la novela historica posmoderna. As part of the Falvey Library Celebrations of Hispanic Cultural Heritage Month.
