Background Information

Now in its twenty first year, this is the oldest International summer program created by Villanova University. The program was designed by Dr. Mercedes Juliá in 1989.  Professor Juliá directed this summer program during the first several years and then other professor participated as well.  From the very beginning it has been a very popular program among the faculty and students in our Department.  The following faculty members have participated and directed the program thus far: Drs. The City of Cádiz. Situated in the Southwestern part of Spain, is a living relic of the Eighteenth Century, with the Caleta beach at the center of the city, to remind us of Cádiz' old Phoenitian heritage, 3,000 years ago. Cádiz is a small port city that due to its location away from tourist routes, still conserves old traditions, and people live in a relaxed, safe and friendly atmosphere. The climate is ideal for the summer: approximately 80 degrees fahrenheit, with refreshing sea breezes.
