Thirty credit hours in political science are required for a major. The two
introductory courses (PSC 1100 and PSC 1200), PSC 1900, and our senior
seminar (PSC 6900) are required. The introductory courses must be taken as prerequisites
before certain elective courses. PSC 1900 Research Seminar will also satisfy the
College of Arts and Sciences Core Research Course requirement.
Three Areas of Elective Courses
- American Government and Public Law (2000 and 3000 level)
- Comparative Politics and International Relations (4000 and 5000 level)

IR Certificate with your diploma at graduation, please remember to apply
for it at least one month before graduation)
- Political Theory
and Behavior (6000-6875 level).
Political Science majors must take one course
from each area in order to meet our 1-1-1 distribution requirement. With the
exception of internships, courses taken on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis
cannot be used to satisfy requirements for the major.
Requirements for a Minor
- Fifteen credits, including the two introductory courses (PSC 1100 and PSC
1200),
- Plus any three advanced courses fulfill requirements for a minor.
- Courses taken on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis cannot be used to
satisfy requirements for the minor.
