Applicants for admission to the graduate programs must hold a bachelor’s degree. Specific program requirements are as follows:

M.S. Psychology: Applicants should have at least 18 undergraduate credits in psychology, including statistics and one laboratory course,  and have at least a 3.0 GPA, or an undergraduate degree from an accredited institution. Click here for more information.

B.A./M.S. Psychology: Applicants should be Villanova psychology majors with junior status, a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0, a GPA in the psychology major of at least 3.2, and completed or be enrolled in at least 6 psychology courses which must included: PSY 4000 - Intro Statistics , PSY 4050 - Research Methods in Psy , PSY 4150 - Sem Professional Development , PSY 4200 - Physiological Psychology or PSY 4500 - Cognitive Psychology , and two psychology electives.

For the Master's Program, submit the following:

To the Office of Graduate Studies:

  • The completed application and fees.
  • Scores from their Graduate Record Examination (GRE).
  • Two official undergraduate transcripts.

To the Department of Psychology:

  • Three letters of recommendation.
  • A Statement of Purpose is encouraged.

           

             

 

 

For the B.A./M.S. Program, submit the following:

To the Department of Psychology secretary:

  • The first three pages of the graduate application completed.
  • Official transcripts documenting your courses.
  • A personal statement (2 pages max) describing your career goals and reasons for pursuing a master's degree.
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty assessing your potential for success in the B.A./M.S. program. Letter forms may be obtained from the application to graduate studies.
  • The GRE is waived for the B.A./M.S. program, but students' SAT scores will be assessed by the admissions committee.

Please note: Acceptance into the BA/MA track is not automatic and is limited to a maximum of five students each year.

Application materials must be received by March 15 for consideration to receive an assistantship or scholarship.

Complete Application

In order to insure a timely review, a complete application must be submitted. A complete application includes:

  1. Application for admission online or paper applicationPDF icon
  2. Program specific application requirements must be completed as defined by each graduate program.
  3. Non-refundable application fee of $50.* (payable to Villanova University)
  4. Official transcripts (two copies) of all previous college work (both undergraduate and graduate) sent directly to the Graduate Studies Office, by the Registrar of the Colleges or Universities involved.
  5. Letters of recommendation (3) forwarded directly to the Director of the program to which you are applying.
  6. GRE scores
  7. TOEFL scores for international students
  8. Financial Certification for international students needing an F1 Visa.

*fee waived for students with a Villanova degree

Deadlines

Applications are generally considered for fall admission. We use a rolling admission procedure, and accept applications for the following fall throughout the year.

To receive full consideration for financial aid, complete applications should be received before March 15.
