Any student of any major can take any of the basic course
military science classes (not to be mistaken with "Basic Training") with no obligation. These classes are normally
completed during the freshman and sophomore years. They are:
Military Science 101 (MS 0101) -
Introduction to ROTC I
Military Science 102 (MS 0102) - ROTC
II
Military Science 201 (MS 0201) -
Introduction to Military Leadership I
Military Science 202 (MS 0202) - Into
to Mil Leadership II
Here is a sample of what you do and learn in the Basic Course:
- Time Management and Planning Skills
- Problem Solving
- Increased Self Confidence through
Field Training Exercises
- Introduction to the U.S. Army, some
history and organization
- Leadership Skills
You get to see whether the discipline and challenges of
being an Army officer appeal to you. And we get to see whether you have the
physical, academic and attitudinal qualities that add up to officer potential.
