Dr. Gustavo Benavides presented a paper entitled “The Role of Islam in the Re/Emergence of European Christian Identity,” at the 6th Conference of the European Association for the Study of Religions, Bucharest, September 21, 2006.

On the 20th anniversary this year of its original publication, Dr. Walter Conn’s Christian Conversion has been brought out in a reprint version by Wipf & Stock.

Dr. Paul Danove presented the following three papers this summer: "Ditransitive and Derivative Usages of Verbs of Transference in the New Testament" (Spokane, WA, 2006 Society of Biblical Literature Pacific Northwest Region Meeting, New Testament Seminar, May 6); "A Perspectival Study of Verbs of Transference and their Derivatives in the New Testament" (Edinburgh, Scotland, 2006 Society of Biblical Literature International Meeting, Methods in New Testament Studies Section, July 4); "Mark's Characterization of the Son of Man and the Disciples of Jesus: A Corrective Christology for a Corrective Anthropology" (Chicago, IL 2006 Catholic Biblical Society Annual Meeting, General Assembly, August 6).  Dr. Danove was also named co-chair of the new "Hellenistic Language and Linguistics Seminar" at the Society of Biblical Literature Annual International Meeting.

Dr. Daniel Doyle’s review of Walter Kasper's That All May Be One was published in Horizons, Vol.33, No.1, Spring 2006, pp. 187-189.

Dr. Mark Graham delivered a paper entitled "The Environmental Burden (Disaster?) of Catholic Act Analysis" at the First International Conference of Catholic Theological Ethicists (“Catholic Theological Ethics and the World Church") in Padua, Italy, in July. Mark likewise has received a second “Bridgebuilder’s Award” for his exceptional assistance to students with disabilities.

Dr. Martin Laird’s, Into the Silent Land: A Guide to the Christian Practice of Contemplation. was published by Oxford University Press, in summer 2006.

Dr. Peter Spitaler’s article, " ‘Doubt or Dispute’ (Jude 9 and 22–23): Rereading a Special New Testament Meaning Through the Lens of Internal Evidence," has been published in Biblica 87, no. 2 (2006): 201-222. His revised and expanded dissertation has likewise been published: Peter Spitaler, Universale Sünde von Juden und Heiden? Eine Untersuchung zu Römer 1:18-3:20, in the series Forschung zur Bibel 109, ed. Thomas Söding. (Würzburg: Echter, 2006). He presented a paper, "'Doubt' or 'dispute' in Jude 22-23" at the International Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature in Edinburgh, Scotland and another, " Paul's reasoning an law and righteousness in Romans 1-3: hypothetical, contradictory, other? " at the meeting of the Catholic Biblical Association in Chicago. He also received a summer Veritas grant to research the topic, “The Child as Kingdom of God Metaphor in Mark’s Gospel”.

Dr. Suzanne Toton has received a summer Veritas grant to research how the principles of subsidiarity and solidarity are concretely expressed in CRS' relief and development efforts overseas and in its work to educate and build solidarity in the U.S. The title is: "Subsidiarity and Solidarity: Catholic Relief Services, a Case Study."

Dr. Rodger Van Allen’s review article, “Curran’s Memorable Memoirs,” appeared in Horizons (Spring 2006); his article “What Really Happened?: Revisiting the 1965 Exiling to Latin America of Daniel Berrigan, S.J.” appeared in American Catholic Studies (Summer 2006), pp. 33-60; In the Catholic Press Association awards for 2006, American Catholic Studies received the General Excellence, 1st place award for Catholic Scholarly Journals.

Dr. Fayette Veverka completed two entries for "Christian Educators of the Twentieth Century": "Francoise Darcy-Berube", and "Catholic Philosophers of Education, 1900-1960".

Dr. Darlene Weaver presented a paper entitled "Embryo Adoption: Changing the Terms of the Debate," at the international conference on Catholic Theological Ethics in the World Church, Padua Italy, Summer 2006. She has also been elected to membership in the Duodecim Theological Society and to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Religious Ethics.

Dr. William Werpehowski delivered a paper entitled "A Tale of Two Presumptions: The Development of Roman Catholic Just War Theory," at an international conference on "Catholic Theological Ethics and the World Church," Padova, Italy, July 2006.
