To be eligible for financial support
you must be degree-seeking (i.e., non-matriculated students are not eligible for financial support).
Graduate Assistantships and Tuition Scholarships
Applicants for full-time study may compete for a limited number of graduate assistantships that provide complete tuition remission and a stipend of approximately $11,000 per year or for tuition scholarships that provide complete tuition remission but no stipend. The latter permits students to maintain outside employment while in studies. Graduate Assistants are required to work for the Department of Theology and Religious Studies twenty hours each week. Tuition Scholars are required to work seven hours per week.
All awards are made by the Dean of Graduate Studies.
Both graduate assistantships and tuition scholarships are awarded to cover one academic year of study. Assuming that the student meets the required academic and performance-related standards, these assistantships and scholarships are frequently renewed to cover a second academic year of study. Normally, graduate students in master's degree programs are not permitted to hold a graduate assistantship or tuition scholarship beyond a two year period.
For priority consideration, students applying for assistantship or scholarship should submit credentials by March 1 to be considered for fall of that academic year.
