VSB’s Master of Science in Finance is an exciting program that allows you to earn a Master’s degree in one full-time year of study. Upon completing the program, you’ll enter the job market with a significant competitive advantage.

Offered in conjunction with Villanova’s cutting-edge Institute for Research in Advanced Financial Technology (IRAFT), the MSF includes classroom study and direct contact with the business world. You’ll be immersed in a fast-paced environment where academic principles and theories are brought to life through real and simulated exercises in our state-of-the-art facilities.

Who should apply to the MSF program?

We welcome applications from students who have achieved a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, economics, finance, engineering, or mathematics. If you have such a background, you are eligible to apply for the MSF program with or without work experience.

  • Average age of MSF students: 22 years
  • Average GPA: 3.5
  • Average GMAT: 620
  • Average work experience: 1 year

What will you study?

The MSF curriculum is designed to develop graduates who can demonstrate a comprehensive understanding, depth of knowledge, and ability to apply professional competencies needed for success in the financial services industry.

The depth and degree of financial theory covered in the MSF curriculum is much greater than what is covered in a traditional MBA Program. Courses cover a wide variety of topics including:

  • Financial decision-making under uncertainty
  • Applied corporate financial analysis
  • Derivatives markets
  • Management of real-world investment funds

When do classes meet?

The MSF degree is a full-time, day program. You are not permitted to work full-time while completing the course requirements.

Where are classes held?

Villanova University’s picturesque 260-acre campus is located on the famed Main Line, just 12 miles west of Philadelphia. Our beautiful suburban campus is easily accessible by car and just a short ride on the R5 train from Philadelphia. Classes take place in Bartley Hall, an exceptional business learning and technology center that recently underwent a $26 million renovation.

A new, state-of-the-art Applied Finance Lab gives you access to real-time financial data in a simulated Wall Street trading room environment, as well as a chance to manage a real investment fund.

How much does the MSF cost?

2007-08 tuition for the MSF Program is $26,730 (33 credits at $810 per credit). In addition, the university assesses a $30 general fee each semester. Please note that if you require additional coursework beyond the standard curriculum, your tuition costs will be higher.
