Director's Message

Fr. Theodore Hesburgh once said, “Catholic Schools and universities are where the Church does its thinking.” Had he been asked, Fr. Hesburgh might have extended that statement to say, “Business schools in Catholic Schools and universities are where the Church does its thinking about business issues.”

Villanova University’s Villanova School of Business is uniquely positioned to become a “first mover” in the study and application of sound business methods to Church decision making through the establishment of its Center for the Study of Church Management.

Our Mission Statement indicates “The Center for the Study of Church Management provides education and scholarship on fiscal and management matters in service of the leaders of Catholic dioceses, parishes, and related ministries.”

While concerned with all aspects of church management, the Center will initially focus on the areas of church finances, human resource issues, and church governance structures.

We invite you to explore our website or contact us to learn more about the Center’s activities and opportunities to join us in this important endeavor.

Director, Center for the Study of Church Management
