Experiential Learning Division

Villanova School of Business students always have one foot in the real world of business, and the Center for Entrepreneurship is no exception. Students interested in the exciting and challenging world of entrepreneurship have the opportunity to participate in special competitions, clubs, internships, and career counseling—or to jump right in and start their own businesses.

Several VSB student ventures are already up and running. The Philadelphia Inquirer recently featured six Villanova student entrepreneurs and their profitable “’Nova Nation” rally scarves business.

The Experiential Learning Division offers students the following programs and services:

  • Entrepreneur-in-Residence Program: The division sponsors experienced entrepreneurs to teach seminars, mentor teams of students, and participate in various entrepreneurial programs. Entrepreneurs-in-Residence may stay for a semester or a full academic year.
  • Entrepreneurial Internships: Students gain real-world experience through internships with entrepreneurial Villanova alumni and local business owners.
  • StartUp Challenge Business Plan Competition: This competition is open to all undergraduate students at the University and awards cash prizes to winning teams. The competition focuses on the entrepreneurial process, as opposed to new venture ideas.
  • Entrepreneurial Career Counseling: This program assists students in determining whether or not they should pursue an entrepreneurial career.
  • Villanova Entrepreneurial Society (VES): The division supports this student group, which invites entrepreneurs, often Villanova alumni, to address students. Sample topics include: Women in Entrepreneurship; New Ventures Started by Students; Funding a New Venture; and Running a Family Business.
“My experience developing a rally scarf business as part of an entrepreneurship class was incredibly valuable. I’m thankful to Villanova for this unique opportunity, as I know of very few schools in the country that offer any similar experience.”
