Daniel M. DiLella Center for Real Estate Programs and Initiatives

Real Estate in the VSB Curriculum

A minor in real estate is now available to undergraduate business students. The minor is comprised of three courses—Real Estate Investments, Real Estate Law, and Real Estate Development—and incorporates site visits and experiential learning development projects into course material.

The center is working closely with the VSB Graduate Programs Office to establish real estate courses in the MBA curriculum. A new course in commercial real estate finance was introduced in Spring 2009.

Real Estate Internship Program

The center is aggressively seeking fall, spring, and summer internship opportunities for our real estate students. If you are interested in sponsoring an internship, please contact Tim Hoffman, Associate Director, at 610.519.4334.

The VSB Real Estate Community

The center strives to mobilize the Villanova real estate community through industry events and networking opportunities. The center has recently hosted a panel event on the commercial credit crisis and partnered with ULI Philadelphia to sponsor a panel event examining residential development in the Delaware Valley. Click here to watch our recent events.

The center also sponsors VSB's student Real Estate Society, and organizes site visits, professional development events like the Student Real Estate Conference, and guest speakers on current commercial real estate topics. The center has developed a speakers' bureau through which real estate leaders share their expertise in the classroom, and is planning a spring undergraduate case competition.

DiLella Center for Real Estate in the Media

Center director Shawn Howton has been featured as a real estate expert by both print and broadcast media outlets. Howton has commented on issues including the subprime mortgage crisis, the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac takeover, and the real estate implications of the investment banking crisis.

The center's establishment was featured in The Wall Street Journal, The Philadelphia Inquirer, the Philadelphia Business Journal, and GlobeSt.com.
