Real Estate in the VSB Curriculum

The DiLella Center for Real Estate has received industry recognition for its integration of theory and practice, incorporating site visits, experiential learning projects, the perspectives of real estate experts, and industry-standard tools into coursework.

One of the primary objectives of the Daniel M. DiLella Center for Real Estate is to provide expanded opportunities for students to engage in the study of real estate.

Undergraduate Programs

VSB's real estate undergraduate programs are designed to provide students with:

  • An understanding of the legal environment of the real estate industry and commercial transactions.
  • The ability to analyze real estate opportunities and value commercial and multi-family residential properties. Fully understand the risk and reward opportunities within the real estate industry.
  • Exposure to real estate industry professionals and experiential learning opportunities in and out of the classroom through class visits, field trips, cases, and real estate society activities.
  • Knowledge of the process of real estate development and of each of the constituencies involved in this process.
  • A strong understanding of career opportunities within real estate and of the skill set required for these diverse opportunities.

The co-major will increase the students' depth of knowledge and allow them to more effectively compete for a broader range of careers within the real estate industry by:

  • Providing functional knowledge in the traditional disciplines of (at least) accounting, economics, finance, and marketing.
  • Allowing students to become certified in Argus, the industry standard valuation software.
  • Providing exposure to advanced modeling and analytic methods for valuation and underwriting of real estate transactions.
  • Educating students on where real estate fits into the market as an investment asset class and why real estate assets belong in effectively diversified portfolios.

The new VSB real estate co-major is now available to students. To complete the program, the following courses are required:

BL 2150 - Real Estate Law
