The DiLella Center for Real Estate has received industry recognition for its
integration of theory and practice, incorporating site visits, experiential
learning projects, the perspectives of real estate experts, and
industry-standard tools into coursework.
One of the primary objectives of the Daniel M. DiLella Center for Real Estate is
to provide expanded opportunities for students to engage in the study of real
estate.
Undergraduate Programs
VSB's real estate undergraduate programs are designed to provide students
with:
- An understanding of the legal environment of the real estate industry and
commercial transactions.
- The ability to analyze real estate opportunities and value commercial and
multi-family residential properties. Fully understand the risk and reward
opportunities within the real estate industry.
- Exposure to real estate industry professionals and experiential learning
opportunities in and out of the classroom through class visits, field trips,
cases, and real estate society activities.
- Knowledge of the process of real estate development and of each of the
constituencies involved in this process.
- A strong understanding of career opportunities within real estate and of
the skill set required for these diverse opportunities.
The co-major will increase the students' depth of knowledge and allow them to
more effectively compete for a broader range of careers within the real estate
industry by:
- Providing functional knowledge in the traditional disciplines of (at least)
accounting, economics, finance, and marketing.
- Allowing students to become certified in Argus, the industry standard valuation
software.
- Providing exposure to advanced modeling and analytic methods for valuation and
underwriting of real estate transactions.
- Educating students on where real estate fits into the market as an
investment asset class and why real estate assets belong in effectively
diversified portfolios.
The new VSB real estate co-major is now available to
students. To complete the program, the
following courses are required: BL 2150 - Real Estate Law RES 3150 -
Real Estate Investments RES 3250 - Advanced Real Estate Modeling RES 4150 - Real Estate Development
And, at least one of the following electives:
FIN 2350 - Real Estate Capital Markets ECO 3141 - Urban Economics
ACC 2350 - Accounting for Real Estate Investments
Graduate Programs The DiLella Center for Real Estate has partnered with VSB's graduate
business office to
establish a real estate concentration within the Villanova MBA program. Students may select from the following
