EMBA Alumni Board of Directors

Chair - A.B. Maynard
(Year 1 of 1)

The Chair is the chief executive officer of the EMBA Alumni Association (the Association) and takes the lead in determining strategic objectives of the Association, aligning direction and preparing agendas for the Association board. The Chairperson can set the tone for the Association and its relationship with Villanova University and the Executive MBA program. He or she works with all Association board members to ensure that the Association’s interest is observed in matters of finance, publicity, news of classmates, informal reunions, life-long learning (executive education) and fund-raising programs. It is the duty of the Chairperson to maintain contact with Villanova University on behalf of the EMBA Alumni Association.

Selection of the Chair – The President of the EMBA Alumni Association is elected for a two year term. In the first year, the president assists the Chair in the pursuit and execution of strategic initiatives and serves as the Director of the Annual Alumni Association Conference. In his or her second year, the president is elevated to the position of Board Chair.
 

President, Director of Annual Alumni ConferenceErika von Hoyer

The President works with the Chair and other board members in planning, organizing and implementing alumni programs. Specifically, the President serves as the Director of the Annual Alumni Association Conference.

In the absence of the Chair, the president exercises the powers and duties of the Chair. Examples of projects and/or activities that the president might be involved in are: newsletters, community service projects, mini reunions, life-long learning (executive education), etc.

The President of the EMBA Alumni Association is elected for a two year term. Vice President, SecretaryMelissa Moss
(Year 1 of 1)

The secretary is responsible for taking notes at each alumni board meeting (whether by conference call or in-person meetings). Accurate records/minutes need to maintained and communicated to the board within 72 hours of a meeting. The secretary may be asked to assist with soliciting updates for the bi-annual Executive MBA newsletter. The secretary will also verify the tallying of officer votes at each year’s elections.
 

Vice President, TreasurerLinda Evans
(Year 3 of 3)

The treasurer is responsible for the financial resources and liabilities of the association. The treasurer budgets and disburses class funds to pay necessary and authorized charges and maintains all financial records of the association. The association account that the treasurer maintains will be used to pay for association expenses associated with reunions, e.g., publicity, newsletters, informal reunions, etc. In most classes, the treasurer gives a financial report setting forth the amount, management and disposition of the class funds at each board meeting. The treasurer ensures balanced books at the end of his or her term.
 

Vice President, Webmaster – Open Position
(Year 1 of 1)

The Webmaster maintains an alumnus webpage. The Villanova School of Business Executive MBA Program will assist the board webmaster by providing server space and limited technical assistance. A webmaster should have knowledge of or strong interest in learning HTML or Frontpage (Website development software) and an interest in creating strong new communication vehicles for the EMBA Alumni Association.
 

Vice President, Alumni AffairsCyndy Galda
(Year 2 of 2)

The Vice President of Alumni Affairs is responsible for planning, organizing and leading various social events for the Executive MBA alumni. The vice president of alumni affairs will ensure that events will be coordinated with the board, annual board calendar, the Executive Program staff and the Alumni office within the University.

VUEMBA Alumni Association - 2007-2008 Board Schedule "Proposed"

Meetings will begin at 5:30 pm and will be held at the Conference Center on the 1st Thursday of each month.  The schedule may change based on weather conditions, alumni events or other circumstances that impact board member availability.  Periodically, conference calls may be scheduled to replace or supplement the following proposed dates:

Class At-Large members represent their class by attending monthly board meetings. The purpose of these positions are to:
a. Ensure that each class is represented on the Board
b. Support the aims of the alumni association
c. Participate in planning, coordinating and conducting alumni sponsored events
d. Prepare them to become future officers of the alumni association.
