Faculty at VSB are nationally recognized for their passion for teaching. The VSB emphasis on community—which is fundamental to
Villanova's Augustinian tradition—requires a faculty that is as committed to teaching as it is to research.
Accountancy & Information Systems faculty—through their
research and teaching—are committed to keeping VSB curricula
agile, innovative, and relevant. For example, faculty
members utilize a Business Activity Model in the
intermediate accounting course. Instead of following a
traditional textbook approach, students in the course are
required to navigate a multifaceted case study over two
semesters. Accountancy & Information Systems faculty are also
developing an introductory financial accounting course,
which will be team taught by finance and accounting
professors, in response to the market demand for candidates
with both accounting and finance skills.
Over the past five years, nearly 100 percent of
graduating seniors in the accountancy program had job placements
confirmed before their graduation date. Since 2006, three
VSB information systems students have won the National SAP University Alliance
Scholarship—a prestigious research competition involving
over 200 universities. These accomplishments reflect the
excellent relationships and reputation that the Accountancy &
Information Systems group at VSB maintains with recruiters,
accounting firms, and technology firms.
