VSB faculty regularly host research events, including the annual Joseph L. Lucia Public Policy Lecture—which features nationally-recognized economists—and an Economics & Statistics research seminar series. Both are open to the public. Through its history of nearly 20 years, the Joseph L. Lucia Public Policy Lecture has featured Nobel Laureates James Buchanan, James Tobin, and Joseph Stiglitz, as well as luminaries including Alan Blinder and Walter Williams. In addition to hosting these events, VSB faculty routinely attend academic conferences internationally and serve on conference program committees, including the committee for the 2009 Conference on the Political Economy of International Organizations in Geneva, Switzerland.
