How long will it take to earn both degrees?
It typically takes four years to complete both degrees. You may graduate from
law school even if you haven't completed all the requirements for the MBA
program.
What if I have taken some undergraduate business courses?
The Villanova School of Business requires 56 credits to receive an MBA degree
and the Villanova School of Law requires 87 to receive a JD degree. At the time of acceptance to the MBA program, the MBA office will review your undergraduate transcript to determine if any of the basic core courses in the MBA
program can be waived. You are required to complete a minimum of 40 credit hours
in order to receive the MBA degree. However, up to 9 credits from the law school
may count toward the MBA degree.
When can I begin taking MBA courses?
You can begin taking MBA courses after the spring semester of your first year
in the joint program.
What is the tuition for students in the joint program?
You will pay full tuition to the law school for six semesters (three years).
You will pay for the MBA courses on a per-credit basis as courses are taken.
Tuition in the PMBA program for the 2006-07 academic year is $675 per credit or
$2,025 per course. There is a $30 general fee assessed by the university each
term.
What will my schedule be like?
JD courses are offered in the daytime during fall and spring semesters. MBA
courses are offered in the evening during fall, spring, and summer terms.
How do I apply?
- In order to be admitted to the joint program, you must first apply and be admitted to Villanova University School of Law.
Please view the Villanova School of Law's Web site for information about the
application process.
- You then must apply separately to the
Villanova School of Business MBA program. This application can be filed when you apply to law school or you can wait and apply during your first year of law school. The MBA program requires that you take the
GMAT.
- Once you have applied and been accepted separately into the JD program and the MBA program, a determination is made by the
director of the law school's joint program and the director the MBA program at the Villanova School of Business whether you are an acceptable candidate for the joint program.
