General Questions
Who is eligible for the MAC program?
If you are a college graduate (BS or BA) with an accounting major or minor, you can enroll in
the MAC program without taking additional undergraduate courses. If you have a
degree in another subject area, you are eligible for the program, but will
likely need to take additional courses.
If I participate in the program, can I work in the fall immediately after receiving my undergraduate degree?
Yes. The 14-month MAC program is specifically designed to allow you to begin classes and still start full-time employment in the fall.
You are not required to have full-time employment to enroll in the program.
I work or live outside of Pennsylvania. Is it still possible to participate in the
program, even if I am not close to Villanova campus?
Yes. On-campus housing at Villanova University is available for the summer
sessions. The fall and spring courses are online.
Is the program accredited?
Yes, all programs offered by the Villanova School of Business are accredited by
the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the
professional accrediting body for business schools.
Curriculum / Course Requirements
Do the 30 credit hours earned in this program count toward the 150-hour requirement that many states have in order to become a certified public accountant?
Yes. The 30 credit hours you earn in the program, when combined with an appropriate undergraduate degree, meet the 150 hour required
by many states.
Is it possible to start the program after working for one or more years?
Yes. You will need to make arrangements with your employer to get the necessary
time off during the two summers of full-time study.
Is it possible to work full-time during the summers when I am taking classes in the
program?
No. The summer coursework, consisting of four graduate courses, is a rigorous load that requires your full-time commitment.
If I participate in the program, can I simultaneously prepare for the CPA exam?
No.
Because of the rigor of the summer coursework, it is not reasonable to plan to study for the CPA exam during the summer.
Do I have to take the GMAT to apply for the program?
Yes. The GMAT is required for all applicants.
What is the MAC to MBA option?
Individuals who successfully complete the MAC program have the option to apply
to the Professional MBA program and graduate by taking just 19 more credits.
Tuition & Fees
What is the tuition for the program?
The 2007-08 academic year tuition for the entire program is $25,850. Financial
aid in the form of student loans is available. Your tuition costs will be higher
if you require additional coursework beyond the standard curriculum.
