If you hold an undergraduate degree in a field other than business, basic
core courses will provide you with the academic background in business needed
for the MBA program. The number of required basic core courses will vary depending upon coursework
you previously completed at the undergraduate or graduate level and the number of years since
you completed the courses.
All basic core courses are three credits unless otherwise noted. In addition,
you are required to have at least one semester of college-level calculus and must possess basic computer skills.

Financial Analysis Cluster
MBA 8101 Accounting Information and Decision Making
Explores the role of accounting in modern business enterprises through the corporate approach. Topics include: components of financial statements, periodic determination of income and financial position, and presentation of financial information to external users.
MBA 8301 Economic Analysis
Covers the study of micro- and macro-economic tools of analysis. Topics
include: the functioning of a market economy in the product and factor markets under alternative market structures, national income, fiscal policy, and the role of money supply and monetary policy.
MBA 8401 Corporate Finance
Analyzes basic business problems and tools of financial decision making used by business firms.
Topics include present value techniques, capital budgeting and cost of capital asset management, introduction to the theory of portfolio management, and capital asset pricing.
Prerequisites: MBA 8101 and MBA 8502 or equivalent.
Management Cluster
MBA 8505 Business Ethics (1.5 credits)
Considers the ethical responsibilities of managers and corporations by raising ethical dilemmas and providing plausible frameworks for dealing with them.
Reveals common patterns of success and failure in managing ethical conflicts. Encourage
students to develop a justifiable perspective on the role of ethics in business.
MBA 8506 Employment Law (1.5 credits)
Explores legal issues managers face in dealing with employees. Focuses on federal and state laws that affect hiring, promotion, discipline, benefits and job security as well as protecting employees' safety, economic welfare, privacy, and collective bargaining rights.
MBA 8601 Decisions in Marketing
Examines the philosophy of marketing and the managerial functions of marketing as an integrated business discipline designed to responsibly achieve an organization's goals within the constraints of society's objectives.
Explores various environments, both domestic and international, within which marketing must operate.
