Academic Advising and Support

Academic Advising

The Clay Center at VSB seeks to provide you with exemplary academic resources that enable you to be an active member of the VSB student body, to explore and develop your educational and career goals, and to successfully apply your unique talents and knowledge to become a socially-responsible member of the global business community.

Undeclared Student Advising

In keeping with this goal, the Clay Center connects each incoming VSB freshman with a VSB Peer Counselor and a Clay Center Advisor. Freshmen are notified of their assignments prior to meeting with their VSB Peer Counselors and Clay Center Advisors during the Villanova University Orientation. VSB Peer Counselors and Clay Center Advisors are available to provide guidance on course selection, registration, curricular planning, and the general adjustment from high school to college. VSB Peer Counselors and Clay Center Advisors are available to VSB students all through the VSB experience—from orientation to graduation.

Major Advising
During their sophomore year, upon selection of their majors, VSB students are encouraged to meet with a VSB Faculty Advisor in their area of study as an additional source of help and information. VSB Faculty Advisors are available to provide guidance on defining and reaching educational goals in a given field of study, as well as to answer questions pertaining to curricular planning, study abroad opportunities, and other academic options.

Major Selection

VSB students are required to select a major sophomore year. To assist students in this process, the Clay Center offers advising and programs throughout the year.

CAPP Degree Auditing

Curriculum, Advising, and Program Planning (CAPP) is a degree auditing tool that offers you the ability to track your progress toward the completion of your degree. CAPP compliance forms are available to both students and advisors through Novasis. CAPP compares your current academic information with your degree requirements and indicates the remaining courses required for degree completion. This tool can also perform a “What-If” function which checks your academic record against the requirements for a new major within VSB and highlights the remaining courses. Click here to view the CAPP Instructions.
