Participating in professional development activities like internships and CoOps, case competitions, and career programs will enrich your academic experience and prepare you for success in the workplace.

We encourage you to take advantage of the many professional development programs and career exploration opportunities that will help you select a major, narrow down your career options, and build your professional portfolio, including:

The Clay Center and CSO: Partners in Your Success

The Clay Center works collaboratively with the University Career Services Office (CSO) in developing and hosting a wide variety of professional development activities. While there are some overlapping services, each office provides a distinct set of services.

The Clay Center at VSB | Bartley Hall 1054
Visit the Clay Center for:

  • Academic advising concerns
  • Specific information/requirements for VSB majors/minors
  • Business internship leads, particularly if you wish to earn academic credit
  • Questions regarding professional development programs sponsored by the Clay Center

Career Services Office | Corr Hall 106
Visit CSO for:

  • Counseling on the process of choosing a major, conducting a job search, etc.
  • Resume review and practice interviews
  • Guidelines for resume, cover letter and thank you note writing; interviewing skills, job search process
  • Internship and full-time employment leads
  • On-campus recruiting program
  • Questions regarding CSO-sponsored events

Professional Development Programs

The Clay Center hosts programs each semester exclusively for VSB students, including:

  • VSB Majors Forum (fall)
  • VSB Majors Fair (spring)
  • Job/Internship Search Strategies
  • Academic Internship Information Sessions
  • Special Topics (e.g. Working on Wall Street, Careers in Fashion, Dress for Success)

The Clay Center encourages VSB students to get involved in campus-wide programs offered by the Career Services Office, including:

  • Resume Writing and Resume Review
  • Interviewing Skills
