Internal Transfer and Business Minor Programs

Internal Transfer

Application Process

Internal Transfer admission to the Villanova School of Business (VSB) is competitive. Typically each year the number of applications exceeds the number of students that can be accommodated. Admission decisions are based on your admission credentials and current academic record. Generally, these criteria must be comparable to those of students accepted as first year students in VSB.

If you wish to transfer into VSB from another Villanova college, you must:

  • Attend a mandatory information session before applying.
  • Complete an application, including a brief statement of interest. Applications are available online, in the Clay Center (Bartley Hall, Room 1054), or at one of the mandatory information sessions.
  • Submit your completed application to the Clay Center on or before May 1.

Your application will be reviewed by VSB's Admissions/Academic Standing Committee at the end of the spring semester. You will be notified of the committee’s decision in late May.

When you are accepted as a VSB internal transfer, Meghan Mogan, Clay Center Advisor, will assist you in your transition to VSB. A faculty advisor in your major will also be assigned to you once you declare your major.

Please note, it is your responsibility to know and understand VSB’s curriculum requirements. In some cases, an internal transfer student may not be able to graduate within the normally allotted four years.

Transfer Policies

  • All grades in core courses that satisfy VSB degree requirements transfer (e.g. ACS 1000, ACS 1001; ENG 1050; THL 1050 or THL 1051; PHI 1050; MAT 1500 and MAT 1505).

  • Substitutions:
  • Calculus Sequences:
If you completed a two-three credit calculus sequence other than MAT 1500 and MAT 1505 prior to transfer, you are still required to take MAT 1505 (Calculus II).

    Ethics:
PHI 2130 (Business Ethics) or Honors 4350 completed prior to transfer can be substituted for ETH 2050. NS 4200 (Leadership and Ethics) may NOT be substituted for ETH 2050 (Ethical Traditions and Contemporary Life).

    Language Courses:
A foreign language course may fulfill a humanities or free elective. However, if you completed 2 years of a language in high school, credit for introductory courses in that language taken at the college level will not satisfy degree requirements, including electives.

    Statistics:
If you completed one semester of Arts statistics (MAT 1230 - Intro Statistics I), transfer credit will be given for free elective. You are still required to take VSB 2005 (Business Statistics).

If you have taken both MAT 1230 (Intro Statistics I) and 1235 (Intro Statistics II) prior to transfer, transfer credit will be given for VSB 2005 and one free elective.

Once you have successfully completed two consecutive semesters in VSB and have attained a GPA equal to or greater than 2.5 in each semester, then grades for courses that do not apply to your VSB curriculum may be excluded from the calculation of your GPA and total credits earned.

The exclusion is not automatic. You must petition the Clay Center at VSB for permission. However, the course and grade earned from the previous Villanova college will remain on your transcript.

Business Minor Programs
