Accounting

Villanova Accounting Society
Faculty Advisor: James Emig

The Accounting Society holds weekly meetings that include visits from accounting industry professionals, career counselors and alumni. Society members attend special events and participate in office visits at accounting firms and corporations near Philadelphia and New York.

Villanova Student Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants
Faculty Advisor: Wayne Bremser

The student chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants welcomes accounting, finance, and MIS majors or minors to participate. The Mission of the organization is to unite through membership accounting students who have similar interests and ideas, are committed to academic and future professional excellence, a sense of professional and civil responsibility, and are concerned with enhancing opportunities for minorities in the accounting profession.

ASCEND Society
Faculty Advisor: Wayne Bremser

ASCEND is a new national business society that focuses on finance and accounting. The society promotes student and professional development through many different channels such as scholarships, site visits, national conferences, networking receptions, and case competitions.

Economics

Villanova Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon
Faculty Advisor: Suzanne Clain

Omicron Delta Epsilon is the international economics honor society. The Villanova Chapter was formed in 1967. The society is open to all juniors and seniors having an overall grade point average of 3.2 or better, as well as a grade point average of 3.2 or better in economics courses. A minimum of four economics courses is required for membership.

Villanova Economics Society
Faculty Advisor: David Fiorenza

The goal of the Villanova University Economics Society is to expose majors in economics and business with the wide variety of professions open to them by meeting with professionals in the field. The society is open to all majors (business and non-business) and all students who are interested in the many careers 'economists' can pursue.

Finance

Villanova Financial Management Association
Faculty Advisor: John Matthews

The goal of the Financial Management Association (FMA) is to connect VSB students with professionals in the fields of corporate finance, risk management, and consulting through the use of guest speakers, site visits, and panel discussions. By enhancing students' knowledge of possible career opportunities, the FMA hopes to allow students the chance to make educated decisions regarding their future in relation to finance and business in general.

Villanova University Equity Society
Faculty Advisor: James Jablonski

The Villanova Equity Society is Villanova's only student-run organization that actively manages a portfolio of equity securities. The society's mission is to provide opportunities for students interested in obtaining real-world investment experience. Analysts perform in-depth analysis of equity securities while utilizing the Villanova Applied Finance Lab.

Villanova Fixed Income Society
Faculty Advisor: David Nawrocki

The Fixed Income Society’s objective is to focus on educating the student body on the fixed income markets. The society teaches bond analysis, portfolio and hedge strategy, as well as derivative products. The Villanova Fixed Income Society holds guest lectures from professionals working in the fixed income markets and looks to aid Villanova students in networking. FIS hopes to create a real money portfolio in the near future in which students will gain experience investing in the fixed income markets.

Villanova Technical Analysis Group (VTAG)
Faculty Advisor: James Jablonski

The Villanova Technical Analysis group teaches business students and others interested in learning about how private and commercial investors actually trade stocks, currencies, and commodities. Unlike the Equity Society, which uses long term fundamental analysis, the Technical Analysis Group maintains its focus on short and long-term technical analysis. This form of analysis is the most commonly used method of analysis on the Mercantile Exchange, the Foreign Exchange, and is equally popular as fundamental analysis on Wall Street.

Management

Villanova Entrepreneurial Society
Faculty Advisor: James Klingler

Utilizing its close relationship with the Villanova University Entrepreneurial program, the Villanova Entrepreneurial Society educates and creates opportunities for the Villanova community in entrepreneurship and new ventures.

Management Society
Faculty Advisor: Lynn Brooks

The purpose of the Management Society is to provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge and expertise in the field of management, while developing leadership skills through various events including but not limited to, guest speakers, workshops and networking forums.

Villanova International Business Society

The International Business Society aims to bring U.S. and international students together, host companies and speakers to share aspects of business, and provide students with valuable information regarding jobs, internships and study abroad opportunities.

Management Information Systems (MIS)

Management Information Systems Society
Faculty Advisor: Q Chung

Villanova’s Management Information Systems (MIS) Society’s objective is to provide its members exposure to the business world, career planning services, and to raise awareness of MIS’ role in the corporate world. Membership will entail the opportunity to meet and network with other MIS majors and MIS alumnus/professionals from a variety of companies. The purpose of the information session will be to convey current developments in the IT field as well as employment/internship opportunities. In addition to these sessions, members will receive exclusive workshops in software commonly utilized by companies.

Marketing

Villanova Marketing Society

The Villanova University Marketing Society gives students an opportunity to gain real life insight into the different aspects of marketing, a chance to meet and speak with professionals in the field, and a means of communicating with other marketing majors seeking similar objectives so that you can have a successful future career.

Villanova Advertising Society
Faculty Advisor: H.K. Bang

Villanova Advertising Society is a student chapter for the American Advertising Federation, one of the leading industry trade associations. Benefits of membership include information on internships, access to speakers, information on the industry, and opportunities to learn more about advertising.

Real Estate

Villanova Real Estate Society
Faculty Advisor: Shawn Howton

The purpose of the Villanova Real Estate Society is to offer students the opportunity to learn from real estate professionals, professors, and alumni through various sponsored events. The society focuses on commercial real estate, investment, development, management, finance, and provides access to jobs and internships.

General Business

Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society
Faculty Advisors: Debra Arvanites and James Emig

Beta Gamma Sigma is the honor society serving business programs accredited by AACSB International - The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Membership in Beta Gamma Sigma is the highest recognition a business student can receive in a business program accredited by AACSB International.

Business Honors Association
Faculty Advisor: Shelly Howton

The Business Honors Association provides students the chance to enrich their business education while staying true to Villanova’s Augustinian traditions. Accepted students are given access to an innovative curriculum that will help develop effective leadership and networking skills. Intellectual challenge and social responsibility are two points stressed in the students’ preparation for successful careers in business and other industries. The Business Honors Association works in direct conjunction with the Villanova School of Business, providing professional development events, exclusive networking opportunities as well as faculty led research forums and a mentorship program for underclassmen.

Gamma Phi Honor Society
Faculty Advisor: Meghan Mogan

An honor society dedicated to serving the VSB community, especially by providing free peer tutoring services in the core business classes. Members have achieved high academic standing in their studies.

Kappa Omega Chapter of Beta Alpha Psi

Beta Alpha Psi is the premier national scholastic and professional fraternity for financial information students and professionals. Beta Alpha Psi’s mission is to encourage and recognize scholastic and professional excellence in the business information field.

Phi Beta Lambda
Faculty Advisor: Mary Kelly

Phi Beta Lambda (or PBL), is a premier student business association. Our mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. We are the newest business club in VSB; we were chartered in the spring of 2005 and being so new it has been difficult for us to raise funds for all of the events we want to hold.

Villanova Women in Business
Faculty Advisor: Mary Kelly

Villanova Women in Business was recently founded in 2005. The organization is open to all students. The goal of the society is to create opportunities for growth and learning regarding issues that women may face in the business world.

Business without Borders
Faculty Advisor: Debra Arvanites

The purpose of Business without Borders is to show Villanova School of Business students that business opportunities exist within non-profit companies. Through presentations, events and discussions, VSB students will see that there are opportunities for those who want to both use their business skills and serve the community.
