January 28 Prayer from the Heart |
"The pure prayer
that ascends from a faithful heart will be like incense rising from a hallowed
altar.
No fragrance can be more pleasing to God than that of his own Son. May
all the faithful breathe out the same perfume." |
| Commentary on Psalm 140, 6 |

WHAT'S HAPPENING
Tolle Lege Reflection
Mark 1:14-20
In the spirit of St. Augustine who urged his followers to search for God
together, consider the following from next Sunday’s Gospel. Despite John the
Baptist’s arrest, we have a fearless Jesus in Galilee proclaiming “The Kingdom
of God is at hand, Repent and believe in the Gospel." Mark continues his first chapter with a new scene: In the middle of their workday, fishermen Simon and Andrew were called by Jesus, “they abandon their nets and followed him." Along the way Jesus sees James and his brother John in their boat “mending their nets." They too were called by Jesus and left their work to follow Him. God’s call to us might be surprising, unexpected, and in the middle of “mending” our nets. Would we be a spontaneous as the disciples to respond and follow? Consider how you are being called by God today.
