The mission of Best Buddies is to enhance the lives of people
with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one
friendships and integrated employment. Best Buddies envisions a
world where people with disabilities are so successfully integrated
into our schools, our workplaces and our communities that our
services will be unnecessary. Until that day, our vision is to
educate middle school, high school and college students, corporate
and community citizens and employers about the needs and abilities
of people with mental retardation.
At present there are 32 Villanova students paired with 25 men and
women with intellectual disabilities, who live in nearby
communities. A lot of our interaction is through gatherings at
Villanova two or three times a semester, plus phone calls and
e-mails.
